Abandoned
Abandoned
Turf buildings on Iceland farms were the norm for generations; not many of them survive today, as farming has changed and/or died out in
many places, and newer generations of Icelanders head for the cities (or other countries.) This pair of farm buildings appeared to be no longer used;
we were fascinated by the larger structure built directly into the side of the rocky outcrop.

Lots of great and subtle compositional elements in this, Chris. Nice work.

  A well worked photo Chris. My Granddad was born in a sod house in Nebraska. And... my father born in a log cabin in Illinois, for real.

  Thanks folks! Sure would love to know how they built the barn roof into the wall of stone like that!
