Go Placidly Amidst The Noise and Haste,
And Remember What Peace There May Be In Silence.

Can we all take a moment of silence for
NancyJ Hovey?
She Just Came Out of The Hospital From
A Thyroid Operation and Is In Quite a Bit Of Pain.
I know our prayers and peaceful thoughts for her will bring her healing!!!

PLEASE GET WELL SOON Mumj!!!

One Of My Favorite Poems of All times:

Desiderata

Go placidly amidst the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labours and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its shams, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

What a fabulous image for Nancyj and a great poem filled with wonderful insights, Laura! I know she will love this! May we all be like the butterfly ... finding peace and serenity in a world full of stress and anxiety! I will take a moment today to stop and think about our dear BP friend, Nancyj. :)

Nancyj ~ GET WELL SOON!!! My thoughts and prayers are with you! BIG HUGS!!! :)

A very special and symbolic image and dedicationa for NancyJ, SSSLala.
And that beautiful, sunlit butterfly.
I sometimes feel like this. Watching people rushing by and thinking they're all running nowhere fast. HEHH! Usually I'm one of them.
But this made me think, Sister, of more important things.
I'll be praying for you too, Nancyj.

One of my all time poems also, Laura. Thank you so much for the wonderful butterfly wishes, and card...

By the way, it wasn't my thyroid, but my PARATHYROID. We have 4 glands behind the thyroid, called parathyroids. I had one very oversized one...it is out, and hopefully never any more sliceing of the throat....no no no....I not like this at all.

Hugs, to all and thanks.... 8o)

This youtube is NOT for the squeamish. I am from a medical background so could handle watching but if any of you are interested in this type of operation here is a 14 minute film of what our Mumj went through. I was just watching other youtubes of how sore the patients are afterwards. She has been through a lot. It's a semi fast operation but serious. These guys are real pros and do them all day long so Mumj got the best of care. :))) These surgeons are very easy to understand and follow along with...but do not watch this if it might make you weak kneed.

LOL oh well I watched the operation and then fainted on the floor.

Graham ran into the room, I thought he'd get me a glass of water but he simply sat in my computer chair and watched the rest of the video!

Only joking little sister lala.

I lust love the poppy and the butterfly, a splendid get well card for MumJ.

Get well wishes from Pat and Graham

From arguably the most thoughtful BP member, what could we expect but something THIS beautiful. Must confess that I did NOT watch the operation. Nancy, you've been through TONS, and always come out smiling. THIS time, if that little bugger was the cause of MOST of the rest, you will be happily singing in the CATBIRD SEAT once you heal. I hope it's a quick recovery. All the best wishes on BP are going out to you!

  Thank you Monnie :))

Phil you are very right about BP!

Big Sister Pat! Lol...You totally had me going. I saw the whole thing!!! I'm so glad you were only joking! I was gasping that I did the wrong thing to post the operation!!! Still smiling and shaking my head here. :)))))

(REMINDER TO THE SQUEAMISH! No-Watchy the film-y!)

Michelle, the high adventure reporter on BP, willing to go where only the brave dare to go, you didn't watch the film??? :))) Thank you for all the kind things you said about Mumj and I. Can you believe through all of this, Nancyj is having to bear down and brace herself for the hurricane (Isaac) about to rip through? They expect it to become hurricane force once it hits the Keys tonight.

I spoke to her by phone last night and it was just a short little call. She wants all of you to know how much she really appreciates your thoughts, prayers and wishes and that she will come back in a couple of days to visit us here she she feels a little better.

Thank you everyone. I know this means the world to Nancyj that her BP family is reaching out to her during this time!

Lorna has a card for her and does does Christine who are both on this thread if you'd like to come see and sign their special cards, too! :)))

-Laura

Re: This image...
That poor butterfly. I followed him around because he was one of the few that seemed to have a restful nature. He'd actually land and stay there long enough for me to get photos. (I have bad luck with anything that moves! Lol...)

With so many bp friends forming a chain of love and prayers for NancyJ, she can't help but get well, ASAP! (I'm not even counting the family and friends who are physically around her.)
Did you hear that, NancyJ? At least you can have all the ice cream you want while you convalesce (I hope)!! Best wishes for an early recovery!
And, Pom ~ there's no surprise that it's YOUR gallery that contains such a pretty butterfly photo, and heartfelt wishes through the Desiderata, to cheer NancyJ!
I hadn't read the poem in years, but I've saved it, and will read it when times are tough...which means, every day!
Thanks once more for your thoughtfulness and your empathy for others in their time of need.

Hi Everybody. I felt this photo was perfect for Mumj since she has many traits of the butterfly. Just below this was one of those flowers that she won gold for as well and I so much thought of her while I stood there!!! :)))

I know she will love each and every visit here. I know that I have!

Thanks all!
