Sunset in the Clouds
This is my favorite time of year for sunsets, when the sun sets behind the reef rocks, as viewed from my favorite spot along Garrison Lake. Last night some fast moving clouds made it all the more special and I took dozens of pictures. In this one, a duck happened to fly through the small frame created with a big zoom lens (500 mm). Pure luck! Quote of the Day: It was the cooling hour, just when the rounded Red sun sinks down behind the azure hill, which then seems as if the whole earth is bounded, circling all nature, hush'd, and dim, and still, with the far mountain-crescent half surrounded on one side, and the deep sea calm and chill upon the other, and the rosy sky with one star sparkling through it like an eye. ~Lord Byron Nikon D700, 50 – 500 mm Sigma APO/DG/HSM, f/4.0 – 6.3 Zoom @ 500 mm. f/10, 1/400 second exposure. ISO 200 (5/4/2012, 8:15 PM. Port Orford, Oregon, USA.)
