The Trade Winds have been blowing strong since we arrived in Maui. (I'd almost believe I was home on the prairies.) Several palm trees had broken fronds dangerously waving in the wind. These are very heavy and pose a danger should they fall on a person. Today a landscape company cut the broken fronds down. It was fascinating to watch as this man shinnied up the trunk to trim the fronds. These palm trees are extremely tall and I shot this image from a third floor balcony.

Excellent capture and composition, Heather. This fellow is tackling a job that most of us would never, ever consider for a "career". High-rise window washers, bridge builders,et.al. --- I salute you (from ground level)!

And not only are the fronds a danger, but so are the coconuts! (These are coconut palms). Over here, they have a cage like device that sits under the coconuts so that when they fall, they don't fall to the ground, or on people's heads! It's great to see such skilled people, like this man, shinny up like that!

One of my first jobs many years ago was with the telephone company. Climbing palm trees looks more dangerous than climbing telephone poles. Excellent work, Heather.
