Outstanding capture of this impressive place, Rey! The Odeon must've been an amazing way to spend an evening "back in the day". Of course, the fairly recent evening with Bocelli must have been fantastic in its own right. Do they still do "sound and light" programs there?

Thank you Tiia, Mary and Tammy for the visits, compliments and praise, it's definitely encouraging and uplifting. Mary, one of the things that this vacation did not allow us was the opportunity to spend more time to linger and explore the place. So we only had probably 2-3 hours tops, to see all the attractions. It would have been exciting to experience the place in the evening and I'd think they do have some kind of "sound and light programs here," though I don't know for sure. It would have been a treat, huh? There was a free Roman play, though and I'll post some captures later.

Thanks Patrick, it's always a pleasure to see your posts. It would be nice to be able to edit comments. There are times when the comments that I've written don't always sound the way I have intended and as a result they've unintentionally offended people. Unfortunately, there's no way to edit, too bad.

What a remarkable theatre, Reynaldo! I wonder how well the sound travelled up to the back rows, it looks like a long way down to the stage!

Thank you so much Susan, Carol, Candice Kerry, Nancy and John for the encouraging remarks on this image. Wonderful observation John, apparently these theatres that were built during the Roman and Greek days were so good that acoustically you can hear the sounds from anywhere in the stadium One amphitheater, the Epidauros Theatre built during the fourth century BC, was a huge 15,000 seat theatre with amazing acoustic properties. As a matter of fact, you can sit anywhere in this auditorium and hear someone on the center stage of the theatre strike a match. The limestone seats seem to block out the low frequencies of crowd chatter, and enhance the high frequencies of performers on-stage. The remarkable acoustic quality of this theatre was either designed by mistake, or it was because of some engineering far ahead of its time.
