Attessa lV was moored in Victoria for a few days for the 2011 Courtnall Celebrity Classic mental health fundraiser. The Courtnall brothers hoped to raise 4 million dollars for this important care centre in the city. Attessa is one of the top 100 largest yachts in the world and is owned by Dennis Washington, an American Industrialist & Philanthropist. The yacht is 225 feet long, that's about two-thirds of a football field, and has it's own helicopter on board. From my vantage point she looks gigantic compared to the Wharf Street buildings.

A little more trivia for ya... I once worked on the 7th floor of the Sussex Building, the art deco building in the center background. At the time, it was one of downtown Victoria's tallest buildings (a wopping 11 stories. LOL)

I felt like a bit of a wimp watching the women's rowing team working hard on a cool and windy evening.

Such contrast in design between the modern boat and the older buildings, very colorful and unique to say the least. A great find and presented superbly Sharon

It's beautiful, and it makes me SO ANGRY that wealthy people are so often portrayed as greedy monsters. Philanthropy is almost synonymous with "Wealthy American Industrialist."

Why is that so often overlooked?
