Leslie, the judges on this site seem to favor more of a photo journalistic style of photography. That does not mean you need to change a thing. I think this has what it takes to win in a different contest. When I take photos for people, I try to take something that they will want a huge print for their wall and future generations will fight over who gets it. This fits that bill! Try not to be discouraged!
