This is amazing that this picture was taken without any flash. I was at my sister's wedding recently and noticed the photographer was not using a flash at all and here I was trying to capture great pictures with my extended flash on my camera. I could not figure out how this photographer was able to get any shots in the low lite wedding without flash. NOW I KNOW!. This is so exciting to me. I can't wait to try this out. Thanks for this information!

Hi Cheryl, I took this image without flash and got great results partly because there was a good deal of light coming in through a bank of windows on the left side of this couple. I used an ISO setting of 1600 to ensure that I could get good exposures without flash, especially because the couple had a wedding photographer who was using flash and I didn't want to interfere. :) Have fun using the high ISO settings on your camera, and I look forward to seeing your images.

This is one time that I wish the camera make was listed. My Canon(s) have low light issues, but I'm not crazy about high ISO's (no matter what "they" say.) You proved me wrong about ISO issues - this is wonderful. With all the contrasts in colors in the image, you did a wonderful job with the exposures. Her red hair is the crowning touch, imo - it's perfectly exposed against all the other hues and tones.

Hi Kathy, After I posted the rest of the information, I realized that I failed to put in the camera model! It's a Canon EOS 20D. Thank you for the compliment on the exposure! -Lynne

Wow - that's really impressive, then. The 20D isn't known for its LL abilities. It's proof that good pictures come from good photographers, and not necessarily the newest models. Again, well done.

Thank you so much, Kathy. When I was an editor at Petersen's PHOTOgraphic, we did a review on the Canon EOS 20D, and one of the editors took a picture indoors without flash at the same ISO setting of 1600. I was impressed at the time with its low-light capabilities, and it's only gotten that much better. Best, Lynne
