This is the northern portion of the mountain range to the south-west of Reno. Lake Tahoe is just behind Slide Mountain (aka Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe), which is the peak sitting alone on the left side of the pic. If you look closely you'll see the ski trails: Slide Bowl on the left 2/3 and the Chutes (crazy black diamond runs) on the right. The main runs are barely visible and in shadow on the right-most edge.

Mt. Rose is actually another peak just on the other side of the valley (to the right), but not the highest peak... Google maps lists that as Sunflower Mtn.

This was from the plane in early morning as we left... by by Reno-Tahoe :(
