Porte Saint-Jean


	Porte Saint-Jean Finalist Joigny is a small French town on the banks of the Yonne River in the Burgundy region. The medieval ramparts that once protected the town are still standing in places and include one of the original arched stone doorways providing access to Joigny. This is an absolutely superb architectural and historical capture. But oddly, I think the thing that takes this image over the stardom hurdle is the patch of little purple flowers against the old, gray stone, along with the lovely light that shines from behind the arch.
