Crypt Chapel
The Chapel of St. Joseph of Arimathea, sunken deep into the crypt of Washington National Cathedral, takes a stylistic departure from the otherwise
English Gothic building, by adopting an older, Norman-influenced architecture. The canvas labyrinth was sized to fit the floor here,
and is also laid out in the nave periodically, for evening programs of meditation and reflection.

So beautiful, Chris. And the off-center labyrinth with the light falling on it balanced by balanced by the simple chandelier in the upper left makes for a stunning composition.

Thank you all very much! I like how this HDR came out after editing, though Nikki gave me some good ideas for a future reshoot, too.

WOW! The repeating patterns - the tones. Such warmth coming from so much surface that should appear hard and cold, but doesn't. Amazing capture..

  Hi Christopher

I've just got 5 minutes at work and I want to say how magnificent this photo is. In fact your love for the Washington National Cathedral shows in all the photos I have so admired. Very soon I hope to have more time to enjoy all of them with time.

Fernanda

Thank you very much, Fernanda! I appreciate you taking the time to look through them; I do love the cathedral, and it just breaks my heart that they have to remain closed still, due to the extensive damages from from the 8/23/11 earthquake. I don't think I've ever gone this long without giving tours there, in my 16 years as a guide!
