Coming in to Roost

Coming in to Roost
Taken 11-22-2010, 6:42 p.m. at the Alligator Farm in Saint Augustine, Florida. Wonderful place, not just for alligators! Near sunset all sorts of birds come home to roost and can be photographed from the comfort (and safety) of a long boardwalk over a pond teeming with alligators and crocodiles. I used a Tamron 18-270 mm lens (set at 109 mm)and a Canon 430EX Speedlite, since it was almost dark when I took this particular shot. I set my ISO to auto, the metering on "spot," and the camera on program. The camera then chose ISO 400, 1/60, f/5.6. For post-processing, I used Picasa to do some very basic editing and then cropped the image.
