Thanks everyone for your nice comments. Small island pockets of timber rattlesnakes can be typically found in the more remote wilds of the Appalachian Mountains. The population of these fascinating creatures is a mere fraction of what it once was. In many states they are listed as endangered (or threatened) so finding a nest of new-borns suggests a new beginning...a spark of hope for the future of the species. Bob
