Very nicely done, Susan. The green really makes it unique. The fade to black really helps dramatize the shape of the guitar but I wonder if it wouldn't be better with just a little more detail visible.

Very nice composition and POV Susan. You do well with the instruments. I assume from the image that you were focusing on the label but think it could use a little deeper DOF so that the strings were in focus.

But that is hard to say because only you know what your goals were for this shot and from the judges standpoint it seems you got it right. Well done.

Thank you to all, my first shot in almost two months, the last being Thanksgiving Day snapshots of family.
This was a just quickie of my husband's guitar with absolutely no editing...it's the true colors of the guitar. I wanted to capture the brand on this particular photo, that's why the label within is clear. I'll do a full shoot of just the guitar in different POV's later when I'm feeling better. It still hurts so bad just to type, but I want to keep up.

And Susan, you just know I had to go a googling and now I know a bunch about the Ibanez guitars and that the company is owned by a Japanese gentleman Hoshini Gakki. Back in the late 60's early they were sued by Gibsons and Fenders for copying their designs and eventually settled out of court.
An unusual emerald green and very nicely shot. I like it and if you hadn't focused on the label I would probably not have investigated the history of this brand and wouldn't be so well equipped to win the next Trivial Pursuit, so thanks. :0)

What a beautiful guitar. I love the color and the texture of the paint job. I didn't even notice the strings were not sharp!

I have tried so many times to get a great photo of my husbands guitar. I've failed miserably every time. Maybe this afternoon I'll pull it out and give it a shot . . .

Peter, I chose Ibanez since it was the only one that had the gorgeous green wood (this is dear hubby's favorite color). My son's bass guitar is a blonde natural wood Washburn designed by Grover Jackson. Will took the guitar completely apart, sanded it down until the blonde wood was a gorgeous silky smooth piece , then varnished it & put it all back together again. I've a ring of lacquer around my kitchen sink that no amount of scrubbing or paint thinners can take off, but it's proof of my son's love of music & the care he took of his instruments.
So, we've a collection going here, the silvery Korg keyboard, the emerald green Ibanez acoustic/electric guitar, the very dark burnt-orangey wood grain of the Tama Rock Star drum set with its brass Zildigan symbols, and the blonde natural wood Washburn bass guitar...wonder what else we'll add to the family music collection? Think we'll start visiting pawn shops to get some vintage instruments when we can.
