THE MAKING OF 'Golden Drumstick':

My best Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club mate and I were out on a springtime wildflower hunt in the park and as it happened we were at the right place at the right time in the middle of a great wildflower season. The number of varieties and amount of bloom were incredible. We were literally spoilt for choice.
This golden yellow Aussie native was just the specimen I was after to best display its beauty and structure. My main problem was in obtaining as much depth of field as possible while still blurring the background. The settings above used with the camera's TTL pop-up flash system gave me the exposure and I had to experiment quite a bit to find the best point of focus. The flash and Lightroom darkened the background for me.

For those who are interested you can find out more about these Drumsticks here: http://anpsa.org.au/i-ane.html

Enjoy!

  Hi Dennis;
What a beautiful and detailed image of this Golden Drumstick. The flowers golden color is soft, lovely and intensified by the darkened background.
