The Devils are Feeding
1/200s @ f/5.6, ISO 1600, 70-200mm lens @ 200mm.Taken at the Australian Wildlife Sanctuary(Animals).
The Tasmanian devil is a carnivorous marsupial now found in the wild only in the Australian island state of Tasmania. The size of a small dog, it is the largest carnivorous marsupial in the world. It is characterised by its stocky and muscular build, black fur, pungent odour, extremely loud and disturbing screech, keen sense of smell, and ferocity when feeding. The Tasmanian devil's large head and neck allow it to generate the strongest bite per unit body mass of any living mammal, and it hunts prey and scavenges carrion as well as eating household products if humans are living nearby.
Since the late 1990s, devil facial tumour disease has drastically reduced the devil population and now threatens the survival of the species, which in May 2009 was declared to be endangered. Programs are currently being undertaken by the Government to reduce the impact of the disease.

Eeeeh, I am reminded why I am vegetarian. Sorry to hear they are endangered, though. Excellent capture, Rona, very detailed, crisp and real. Indeed suitable for the MT.

Oy! This is ICKY and GREAT reporting Rona! Did you see Kiki Kjaer's Coyote eating a WHOLE Black SQUIRREL in it's mouth?

WOW! It's hard to watch nature "feed" but it is the way of life.

Great job! Hope they will soon be off the endangered list. Smelly little ferocious things.

A marsupial? How about that! I don't think I'd like a herd of them in my backyard but this is one dramatic photographic portrayal of a feeding encounter with these rascals. You sure travel far and wide, Rona! :) Excellent wildlife capture!
