A wildflower growing at the botanical gardens. These are actually not very large flowers, but this was taken with my 70-300mm lens that also does fairly well as a macro lens too.

Great image Carol. The colors are great.

I have a 70-300 that I love to use on flowers.

Carol- My goodness, its so good to see you my friend, been such a long time. I can see by going back though your gallery that your talent just keeps growing and the beauty of your work has always been something I find much delight in seeing. I am saving up for a macro lens but for now like you, I use my 75-300 for what I call a reverse macro for getting things close up.
You did such a beautiful job of it here with these wildflowers. Gorgeous colors.
Love the composition and layout of the page. Lighting is perfect and I love the background. As alwyas, excellent work of art.
You take care of yourself girl, it was such a delight to open my gallery and see you. Have a wonderful day.

Thank you all for your kind comments! Jeff, thank you for your kind words, and it is nice to be able to shoot closeup without having to get so close.
Frank, thank you so much! I looked through your gallery and commented on another photo not too long ago. I never heard back from you, so I think you must have missed it. I will look back through your gallery and see if I see which photo it was. I see that your work gets more beautiful, too, as each day passes by!

My Olympus 70-300mm lens is not called a macro lens in its name, but once you read about the lens, it is mentioned: Telephoto macro shots from a minimum distance of 96cm in manual mode and 1.2m in autofocus are possible across the entire breadth of the focal range, giving the photographer plenty of working space for close-ups of difficult subjects. Moreover, full-on macro shooting with maximum magnification of 0.5x (equivalent to 1x on a conventional 35mm camera system) is possible, while the zoom range gives the photographer control over framing and composition without the need to change position.
So even if it is not what one considers a true macro lens, it still works quite well with handling closeups of small things. It offers a magnification of 1:2 that is equivalent to the life size image magnification size provided by a 35 mm film camera. I have really enjoyed this lens because of the ability to reach wildlife that I couldn't reach with my 40-150mm and because of the ability to do macro work.
