~Clearwing Hummingbird Moth~

We don't have them often in our garden but when we do, they're just the most amazing little critters to watch! The smallest of the hummingbird moths, they are only 1.25 to 2 inches long. Nectar sippers, they're attracted to sweet scented flowers and if those flowers turn out to be white, all the better...white and scented, their favorite! They are extremely fast moving, sipping only seconds, thru their long feeding tube (similar to a hummingbird), at one flower before darting off to the next.

Photo taken last year in my perennial garden...

Wow, I've never seen one, Valarie. Great capture. If they're anything like their namsake, they must be almost impossible to freeze in the frame. Wonderful job here and it's cool how he "wraps" into the background.
