Wow Joan this is a beauty. Love the POV and you achieved nice clarity on the whole flower. The color is incredible. I think you have a winner here.

Very nice Joan. I too love the shadows on the petal and the soft colors.

The image does have an number of spots that are blown out. If you can open it in your raw editor, try moving the recovery slider about 1/2 to cut down on the glare which at the same time will very, very slightly intensify the colors.

I agree with Dale on the hot spots Joan. Otherwise, this is really fantastic. I love the shadow on the right side.

Other than being a bit darker, I don't really think made a huge difference on the luminence.

Great colors and comp Joan...I think the changes made the image look flat, I prefer the original..

Thanks Tony! Admittedly I used a higher recovery than what Dale specified, to see if I could tone down the shine. Actually I don't have a huge problem with the original, I wanted to capture a shadow of the stamen, so sidelit the image with window light. I accomplished what I intended anyway!

In agreement that the first post is better in this case. Hadn't envisioned that much of a change would occur and it shouldn't have. The original posting was so good that the differences were to be very minor and supple. See, I shouldn't mess with a good thing. :o)

LOL Dale! As I mentioned I moved the slider more than you suggested, so my bad!

Thank you Rita and all for comments

Hi Joan, Not much left to say. I like the original as well. These colors are shouting "spring" and I love it.
I just wish Mother Nature would listen and take away the snow.

Me too. I much prefer the original. Have to say, the only hot spots that draw my eyes are the ones on the bends of the stamens and the easiest way to tone them down might be to use the clone stamp at perhaps 30% opacity and pick up the color from just above those spots.
But very nice Joan.

Stunning photo Joan. I love the light it really works here. Your original is great, so don't worry about already entering it. But if for some crazy reason it gets passed over . . . try again to tone down the hightlights. I liked it without the shine too. :)
