Thanks for sending this exceptional Thank You card, Birdie! How can we not appreciate someone who keeps doling out such delicious treats!

One question though...what planet did you shoot this on, and what do you call it?

birdie - you are too kind; you should be thanked for sending such gorgeous photos. I just love this fungus shot - what is the red stuff in the front??? Just waiting for the little gnome to pop out of that gorgeous mushroom!

Thank you Carolyn, Gary and Sharon.

Gary: I shot it on planet Earth (quite a nice place at times!), the lichen you will probably know from your wonderful home-country. It is a Cladonia species (Cladonia arbuscula, I think).
The mushroom should be a Mycena species. I took this photo this afternoon. We are having a period of very unfriendly weather - never unfriendly enough for me. :-)

Sharon: The red stuff in front is where the lichen produce the spores in - kind of fruit. My English is not good enough to explain it in detail, sorry.
Thanks again!

  Gary: Mycena epipterygia (most probably).
