Terrific composition, Paula! Is this two blended images? I'm wondering how you achieved sharpness in the foreground and the background but not in the middle area. The results are wonderful.

It's only one image of different layers of aging basal or sterile fronds (leaves) on a staghorn fern. both the upper section and lower section were at the exact same level, so when I focussed on the upper leaf, the lower was also within my range of focus. I used unsharpen mask to give it a cripser appearance.

I have two extremely large plants hanging in my yard. I live in Florida and they require no special care. They are HUGE. everyone who visits remarks on their size and we do nothing to them!
