Lover or Fighter?

Lover or Fighter?
Lover or Fighter?

"Do I wanna go a few rounds .. sure, soon as I finish my deep knee-bends!"

This little guy looked daisy-fresh on a Leavenworth's eryngo in 100+ degree mid-day heat as I dripped sweat from every pore. As I chased him around the "miniature pineapple" on the prickly eryngo with my eyeglass temple he actually shook those little "gloves" in my face several times! How bold!!!

But seriously, the most important transformation in the male occurs in his pedipalps during his "Ultimate Molt". While his mature sisters' pedipalps still resemble walking legs, his take on the appearance of boxing gloves. But do not be mistaken .. he's definitely a lover, not a fighter! The bulbous ends of his pedipalps, the true signature of an adult male, are intricately adapted for use as very specialized sex organs used to introduce sperm into the female.

This is an awesome slice of lime, Jim. A winner in anyone's estimation, I believe. You were POURING sweat from every PORE? Really?

The green lynx is my fav spider..Not many around this year for some reason, the insects they usually prey on seem more scarce..

This is truly an example of a photographer's dedication, getting down and going head to head with this guy. Outstanding work here Jim, well done for sure.
