An art auction aboard the Serenade of the Seas on a recent cruise to Alaska. The auction took place in the Centrium, which is a 11 story central area of the ship. On lookers gathered on all floors.

What a superb capture of this expansive onboard scene, Deri!! An art auction - WOW!! How did you enjoy your cruise? My hubby, Phil, and I have been aboard the 'Rhapsody of the Seas', and it was just an amazing experience!! :o)

  Hi Dominick, Michelle and Carolyn,
Thanks so much for the feedback.
There were 6 of us on the cruise and we all had a great time. We passed Rhapsody of the Seas in the Icy Straights area. I am curious if it has the Centrum area that the Serenade of the Seas has. I think that many of these ships are very similar to each other.

Deri, the 'Rhapsody' certainly does have the Centrum, too!! If you take a look through my hubby's gallery you will see some of the images that were taken whilst we were aboard the 'Rhapsody'!! :o)

It comes down to the South Pacific during your northern winter, which is, of course, our summer here Downunder, and does a number of cruises around Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands!! ;o)

  Hi Carolyn,
I love your husbands photos of the Rhapsody of the Sea. It is quite different from the Serenade of the Seas. It seems to have the same basic structure, but from there varies quite a bit. Royal Caribbean just launched a super ship called the Oasis. It is twice the size of other ships and is supposed to be quite amazing.

  G'day again, Deri!!

I'm glad that you enjoyed viewing Phil's images aboard the 'Rhapsody of the Seas'!! Yes, like you said in your first comment above, the Toyal Caribbean ships are all similar...but also all very different, too!! ;o)

Whilst on board the 'Rhapsody' back in April one of the crew members told us of the new super ship that was about to be launched!! It certainly sounds like it will be a floating island and city all rolled into one - lol!! Amazing!! ;o)

Deri, the many layers in this image are wonderful and one could spend a huge amount of time looking at each of them. I love the color and clarity...but would like to know how you post processed this image if you could please. I love it. sharon

  Hi Sharon,
Thanks so much for the feedback. For this image, I shot it in RAW, and converted it in Aperture. I then post processed it in CS4 with Nik Color Efex Pro. I used two contrast filters: color contrast and tonal contrast. I didn't do any sharpening. When I add tonal contrast, I normally mask part of the image in Nik, but for this image I applied tonal contrast to the whole image (Nik has two ways of masking, the brush or control points that go over colors).
