When I saw this swan in shallow water at the Ky. Horse Park, I took several quick shots of his movements. This one was my favorite as "frozen in time", he appears to be gazing at his reflection. Very overcast conditions, 300 mm zoom lens, tripod, light texture added in ps8.

Thanks so much, Kasia, Sharon, Carolyn, Colette, and Cathy for your comments! Carolyn, your're right, LOL, but when he did get ready he was off too quickly - so no close up this time.

Cathy, I agree that the reflection was a nice bonus but I didn't add it. The photo is just as it was taken except for the texture.

Marie

This is another terrific photo, Marie. Looks like TRP@TRT,E… has struck again. The reflection is a very intergral part of this and you should absolutely take full credit for it. Remember, they never say "How" they jsut always say "How terrific…" Extremely well done, Marie - Allan

Marie - the point is you didn't crop the reflection out so it's yours! Like your effects on this lovely shot...

Hi, Charlene, Joy, and Lori! Thanks so much for your comments.

Lori, I have never done this part before (where you upload an image on the response page) but I am going to try to upload the "untextured" swan.....

I like them both, but I love the textured one. It just adds a little zip. I love this shot...really looks like he's studying his reflection. Nice lighting, great composition. Excellent shot:-)

Great capture, and I agree with Jan that the texture does add to this. Nice work!

Hi Marie! A Nice One You Caught Here The Textured Version Is My Choice! I Like The Swans Reaction To Its Reflection! It Can See Its Not An Addition! Great Timing!!

I love the way you capture her here. I too think the reflection and stare make this. Great use of effects as well.

Marie-I really love the effect used here and the colors and reflection are wonderful. As you can tell from my portfolio I enjoy the animal world myself.

Correct me if I'm wrong.... but I'm counting 6 finalists from you for March! Way to go! I'm going to be different here; I think I prefer the un-textured one. In either version, though, this images deserves this honour! Congratulations!
