Hello there, Thanks for the note. I used a Tamron 90mm macro lens on this tiny flower, which was less than 1" long. It was an indoor conservatory at Callaway Gardens and my lens was angled in such a way as to get some light falling on the greenery of the plant itself in the background. The pink flower was not directly lit. Some also look for a leaf & place it in the background if necessary & then use a penlight with a diffuser on it to light up the background. If you Google Les Saucier's website & look at one of his articles on this penlight technique, you can see what a huge difference it can make in the photo. My photo was more subtle, done with the light that was there during the afternoon. Sue
