I think this Kookaburra is getting very comfortable in front of the camera. I was aiming at another one when he posed for this close-up. Lens apertureF/3.7, shutter speed 1/776sec, focal length 63mm.

Thanks a lot. It's amazing how tame they can get. I have to watch for him as he lands on me & frightens me, but I don't want to frighten him. You should see him swimming in the pool.

And -I- thought it was an EAGLE! Ha!

What fun to have a bird that is so comfortable around you. He lands on you and swims on your pool? Teach him to use the BBQ and put him to work!!! Enough lounging already! HA!

Really great photography, Chris! -Laura :)

STAY COOL!!!

Our gutters get full of leaves & the Kookaburra gets up there digging around in it & throwing it out, all over the front steps. Saves Tony climbing the ladder to do it, you know we are trying to avoid that!! I'm so pleased you all like him, thanks a lot.

Yow, Chris! Judging from that intense look in his eye, I'm surprised to read how chummy you two have become!
This is a superb macro, with wonderful detail.

Thanks a lot. They do become very tame, land on what ever you are doing in the yard, have to keep a look out for them all the time.

I barely got a glimpse of a kookaburra when I was in your country. It is a treat to see one close close-up and to read your narrative. Great detail and colors.
