jim, This is a facinating study in Farmland. I am intrigued by the pattern, line, color and texture. The plants look so soft. great job again, donnarae

Thanks Donnarae. They do look soft, don't they.

This was shot at about 480mm (a 300mm lens with the Canon D30 is eqivilent to about this focal length). I of course had my camera securely mounted on a tripod, using a cable release to fire the camera.

It never ceased to amaze me how many different colors these fields could look at different times in the day.

I can almost smell the lavender. Stunning shot Jim. And thanks for such a great site, I only wish I had found it sooner.~ Beverly G.

Oh...such beauty! This is one of my favorite of yours, Jim! I love that you composed placing the lavender rows on diagonal. What also makes this special to me is that you rarely find lavender color in a scenic...at least not enough of it. A terrific scenic!

Almost looks like corduroy if the trees didn't give it away...

Thanks to both of you! I greatly appreciate the support.

Bryan tells me that the lavender is very late blooming this year... it may not be too late to jump on a plane and head over to Provence.

Just a wonderful scene Jim - I agree with the other comments you have received! The colour is magnificent and the pattern created in your image is just great...

My husband Phillip has French heritage, and we'd love to visit the Provence lavender fields sometime!! In the meantime scenes like this one of yours will have to suffice!

Hi! I am a new member to your site. I am also a lover of Lavender and Paris, so this shot inspired me to write. Did you take these Lavender shots with a film camera?

Thank you all for your nice comments on this image. I am not sure which camera I used for taking this image. On this particular day, I had two cameras with me, one digital, the other film.
