  Hi Dan,
What an awesome image! In fact, this image would make a great selection for the "Where in the World?" quiz. It will be featured in the next issue of BP's PhotoFlash newsletter, which goes out early September 15th.

Dan, let's see if anyone can come up with the correct answer. I'll check back in several days and see how things are going.

And, for everyone else, have fun guessing where this fantastic scene can be found!

  Dan,

Nice shot, makes me cold just looking at it, but having lived in Michigan all my life I understand the great lakes in the winter. Looks awfully familiar, I believe I have a slide of this lighthouse somewhere in my archives, along with most of the Michigan lighthouses. St. Joe, Mi. outer light? Let me know.

What a great shot of the lighthouse. I love to visit and photograph lighthouses. My guess would be that this is in Michigan somewhere. Where in michigan I don't know. I have only been to a few in Michigan and Wisconsin.

Congrats on winning!

Ivy

Lake Michigan coast line near Grand Haven would be my guess.

Great photo. I am gonna guess Michigan also. The Great Lakes can be brutal. If not there, then Siberia!

Just reread my guess, I meant to write on Lake Michigan near South Haven (not Grand Haven).

Beautiful shot! Gutsy move to stand on shelf ice to capture an image!! My guess is the Algoma, WI main harbor light on the Annaphee River, Lake Michigan. Am I correct?

  Hi everyone,
Great guesses everyone! Here's the word from Dan:

"It's the St. Joseph, Michigan, outer light. That particular lighthouse
is built in what is known as the 'range light' configuaration. There is a larger lighthouse about 75 feet closer to shore and built on the same concrete pier as the lighthouse we are discussing."

There you have it ... congrats to all of you who guessed correctly. And, to Dan, a really wonderful image.

Thanks again, everyone, for participating in BetterPhoto's "Where in the World?" quiz!

Best regards,
Kerry
