Photography Question

Looking For Affordable Quality Scanner

Are there any recommendations for a good quality scanner in the 200.00 to 500.00 price range. I wish to scan photos and edit them in Photoshop, and upload to the web.

I bought a Nikon Coolscan V ED, with 2900 resolution and 3.8 dynamic range, a couple of years ago for $900. The newer version of it, with 4000 resolution and 4.2 dynamic range, cost about $600, which is a little over your budget. I strongly recommend this. You can still get the older version, brand new, at about $400. Another one which receives good reviews is the new Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV, with a lower resolution at 3200. But it has a higher dynamic range at 4.8, multi-sampling, batch scanning capablity, cost about $300 and half the weight of the Nikon. Hope this helps.

  FYI:
I just bought the Minolta Dimage scan Dual IV from Amazon.com for $285 (they included a $50 certificate for future purchases) I really like it. Tried it yesterday and have already printed a few great prints. Good Luck!
