Photography Question

Jordan

Grand Canyon / Southern California

Hi to everyone. I will be taking a vacation early June to Grand Canyon National Park and then over to southern California, around the San Diego area. Anyway my question is regarding 3 color films and I want to know which you think would be best to use at the Grand Canyon. They are Fuji Reala, Agfa Ultra 100, and Konica Impresa 50. Of these which do you feel would make the most impactful / aesthetically pleasing images? Thanks in advance for your input. Jordan

Any ideas? I don't mean to sound pushy I'm just leaving very soon and want great pictures.

I haven't used any of the film you mentioned because I mostly use Kodak film. According to their respective sites, the Fuji (consumer film) and Konica (professional film) both are fine grain films and Agfa is a consumer saturated film. If you want to include people in your photos, I will go for either Fuji or Konica because the skin tone may match better. For the scenic, the Agfa should give a little more punch, especially if you have good lighting. For me I will just go for the Fuji for the little bit of speed over Konica. And I can always use filters to enhance the color if I need to and I don't have to worry about the skin tone of people pictures. Just my two cents. Hope this helps.

If you haven't left yet go to popphoto.com and ask the question. They are good too.But I believe for more livelier colors go with Fuji and more subdued tones Agfa is good for. The photos I viewed with Agfa were less brilliant and more in the earth and smooth tones.

Thanks for the responses. Kathryn, I leave bright and early Tuesday morning and I'm giving popphoto a shot right now. Does anyone know if say I just buy a ton of Fuji Reala and I tell the lab I want vibrant colors, could they print it a certain way to obtain this or is it all in the film?

I think your film and you subject is a major factor plus your processing. paper, lab etc. Experience can help a lot. From an intermediates opinion. Have a great time. Kathryn
