How to take good pictures with a fish eye lens

I am a novice in digital photography. I have just bought a Nikon coolpix 8700 with a FC-E9 fish eye lens.

I want to get started taking panoramic pictures, but I don't know how to set the camera so that I find the correct shutter speed, aperture, exposure etc.
Do you have any advice on this or do you know where I can learn more about it??
I have tried reading different books, but I don't think that the are very helpfull :0(

If you can advice me on how to take good panoramic pictures, or can refer me to someboyd who can I will be very thankfull
