Memory Sticks vs. Flash Cards

I have recently purchased a Sony DSC D770 which came with a miniscule 8 MB memory stick. My question is, is there a difference in the quality of pictures I will get using any of the available choices I will have with this camera, memory sticks, flash cards or Smartmedia cards. Using anything other than the memory stick will mean buying a card adapter, which I am not against if it will result in higher quality pictures.

There should be no difference is quality - use whichever one you most prefer.

Unfortunately the storage media will not actually improve your images. The size of the media only determines how many pictures you can store before you have to transfer them to the computer and erase the media so you can use it to store more pictures. There is a case where quality could be improved and that is when you just don't have enough storage to save the highest quality image format. In that case, getting more storage space can allow you to take pictures in your highest quality resolution.
