  HI Kelly. I'm not sure what contest
specifically you're referring to but
I'm battling a bit with sizing myself..
it's best to find the fine print and
size for different places per their
request....
for example...BP wants their best fit
...vertical photo 750 high and 500 wide
and that's in pixels.
Also a horizontal image for BP is best
uploaded in 750 wide and 500 high pixels
You should have somewhere on your software a place to "rezie" photo...
and then put your own dimensions in;
save the photo, and then upload....
Hope that helps a little. Sometimes
the stock photos want 1600x1200 for
theirs....it just depends...usually
best just to find out from the place
you're uploading to or see if you can
read through their "guidelines"
