For the Mrs. My wife, who has less experience than I, would like to get a camera that takes great pictures (auto w/manual override) and will take adult ed classes to help her. This would be a Christmas present from me. She will, if the classes help, become a photo enthusiast, in my opinion.

You are a dear, sweet husband and I'm sure your wife will love the camera you give her. It does require careful thought, though. Buying someone a camera is almost as risky as buying someone a musical instrument. You have to become an observant, thoughtful detective - weighing all the factors. Here are three great cameras that take excellent pictures and feature manual override: The Nikon N60 Camera with Zoom Lens The Minolta 400si SLR with Zoom Lens I like the Canon because it is very easy and user-friendly. However, you know your wife best; if she has ever used a Nikon or Minolta in the past, she will surely have an opinion on them. Take this information into account, if it is available. If she has no camera history, any of the three above cameras will be sure winners. Hope she enjoys!
