Zoom Lens for Minolta XTSI

I have a Minolta XTSI and want an all in one zoom lens. Looking for a 28-300. Ive looked at the Tamron and Promaster. Also heard of Sigma and Phoenix.

Please advise me on the pros and cons of these and which ones you would stay away from.

The more reviews I read, the more I get confused.

Thanks,

ANgel

Tamron's XR model is the one I'd chose, the Sigma Macro a close second. I'm pretty sure the Promaster XR is made by Tamron and it's a previous version. The Tamron XR uses smaller, less expensive 62mm diameter filters where the Promaster needs 77mm. The Phoenix is an older Cosina-made design that I'd avoid.
