Photography Question

Film and Digital

I was wondering about something. I have been a hobby photographer for many years. I finally made the jump and decided to start charging for my services. When I made this jump, I knew that I had to make an investment in some equipment.

For camera bodies, after a torturous interal debate, I decided on film camera bodies.

So far, it has turned out to be the right decision. I have spoken with many clients who prefer film. In fact, I have not had one who prefers digital. They always ask if I do digital, and at first, I wondered of that's what they want, then I answer "no", and they relpy back and say, "good".

That's strictly my experience.

I asked a couple I shot recently about this, out of curiosity, and their comment was that they viewed digital as a consumer "toy". When they hire a profession, they expect a different product.

I was stunned and amazed by this and I was wondering if others experience the same or the opposite.

I am the photo editor of my school's yearbook, and almost everything we do is digital, even the professional who shoots the school portraits uses digital cameras, and they are by no means "toys". It makes everyone's jobs much easier and faster.
