Photography Question

Film

I will be going to Washington, DC soon when the cherry blossoms bloom. Since the leaves are white, would it be recommended that I use a less saturated film, such as Kodak Portra or would a film like Reala be a better choice? The focus of the pics would be the blossoms/buildings. Also, my lab prints on Fuji Crystal Archive paper, would that make a difference?

Thank you,
Jordan

That depends on your personal taste.

I shoot slide film and use Fuji Provia 100F because it replicates the natural colors in the scene. However, I do a lot of my own digital work therefore, if I want to boost the saturation I can do so with my editing program.

On occassion I'll use a saturated film like Velvia or Kodak's E100GX but, that's during the fall or sunrise/sunsets.

For your situation, I recommend you NOT use a saturated film. If they come out bland, to your taste, then have the lab print them with more saturation.

Have fun and good shooting.

Terry
