Lighting for digital studio I am currently shooting digital images witha cannon reb and am useing hot lights - I get varied results sometimes a magenta cast especially with a white backgroud or light table (I set camera to no flash). What are the best lights for this camera ? I am shooting large amounts of product and have limited time for editing. Any suggestions? Kiki Pink and frustrated:-)

Hi Kiki Pink, After doing my own research for studio shooting, I believe if you make changes in the AWB, try setting Tungusten bulb, and adjusting white balance, should do the trick. As we know, once we get the lighting, we can just rip through the editing process, it's always the initial set up that's a time eater ;-) HTH, Regards, Debb

Thanks Deb The day I posted that question - my boss produced the inst. manuel for the camera and I figured out the light setting. Later resolution will put in place - was talked about with the guy who took pics before I and will look into it seriously. Thanks very much for your help - needed it KiKi digi beginner

Most digital camera auto-whitebalances tend to not be 100% accurate with incandescents(hot lights). What you will want to do is get a nice sheet of white paper or find a white surface. Illuminate that surface with the light source you want to use and select the "custom white balance" option from your camera. It should take a sample of the white surface and make the determination that that is white. Pictures you take then will have no color caste to them since they are calibrated for that light source. Issues: If you are using multiple lights or are near a window, be aware that incandescents, flourescents, daylight, etc all have different "light temperatures". So if you mix lights, you will get a color cast. Try to have the same ligtht bulbs at the same power levels if you must use multiple lights for a shot or you will end up with color castes which are hard to impossible to correct after the shot. Good luck!
