Photography Question

Darkroom red light

I have wondered why red light doesn't expose xray film in the dark room. If my eyes can see light why isn't the film being exposed?

different wave lengths have different effects. Visible light, x rays and micro waves are all the same electro magnetic radiation, just different wave lengths. Yet get exposed to two of those and it can be harmful.
