Flash and lens for my Minolta I own the Minolta Maxxum 5, want a better flash - I take lots of group shots at kids' school and in class for yearbook and newsletters and shoot my kids doing everything. I want razor sharpness, no more red eye and no floresent skin tones. I was sold the Promaster 5700 flash (isn't the 7000 for my camera?) and the 100-300mm lens (wouldn't the 28-300 be more convienent?) I want the least amount of stuff to lug but again, want crisp photos. Thanks so much. I need the advice!

While not my first choice, the Promaster 5700 is a pretty decent flash with good power and TTL flash exposure control wiht your camera. The tilt/swivel head allows bounce flash for more even lighting and no red-eye, and there is a secondary smaller forward-facing flash to fill shadows in eyesockets. Not so keen on the Cosina-made Promaster 100-300 f/5.6-6.7. Much prefer Minolta's own 100-300 f/4.5-5.6 APO (~$400), or for ~$200 or less the Minolta 75-300 f/4.5-5.6, or the 70-300 f/4-5.6 zooms from Sigma and Tamron.

I also use a Minolta Maxxum 5 as camera of choice! I also use the Minolta 3600HS flash when needed!! If needed, Minolta makes the 5600HS flash, but it is considerably more expensive - $170 for the 3600HS as compared to $360 for the5600HS!!!
