Photography Question

Why do I get too much red in my pictures?

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC F-707. My photos have a tendency to pick up too much red, especially if there is a lot of red, ie,carpet or draperies, in the shot. Also my reds do not come out in the true color. Sometimes they have an orange cast or sometimes they have a cooler cast. I have done a few weddings where the church has red carpet and therefore the people in the pics tend to have more of a red complexion than normal. Any input you guys can give me will help a great deal. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried to adjust the white-balance on your camera?
