un-locking pictures

When I open Photoshop Elements 2 to make changes to some of my pictures I am unable to save them. I get a message that tells me that the picture is in a locked mode and that I need to go to windows explorer and click on proporities. I can not find what they are refering to. HELP as I have many pictures that are locked(I don't know how I did this). roberto

You have to use "save as" instead of save.

  Hello All,

I think that you have a file with an attribute of 'read-only' - via windows explorer - if this is the case you cannot modify the file until you change it from 'read-only'.
Open the file in windows explorer - find the photo file in question - right click on the file - a drop down menu will appear - click on the 'properties' box at the bottom of the drop down menu.
Make sure that the 'read-only' box is
UNTICKED. Click ok and you are done - you can then modify that file.
