Hand Held meters- what is H and L?

Hi- I am using an older hand held light meter. There is a setting on the top that can be set on either H or L. I know that one of them is for indoors and one for outdoors. If someone could please let me know ASAP which is which! Thanks

There you will find a link to instruction manuals, or if it's not available, there is also a link to a user forum that would likely yield the information you're seeking.

Good luck.

Why would a light meter measure light indoors a different way than it measures it outdoors? What's it do on H that it dosen't do on L?

The "H" and "L" settings are for High and Low sensitivity range on some of Sekonic's light meters that measure in Lux instead of shutter speed and f-stop. For example, model L-246 has a L range that measures 0-1000 Lx, an Ordinary range for 0-5000 Lx, and the H range is for 0-50000 Lx (read from the Ordinary scale, but multiplied by 10).
