Protecting My D100

I just recently purchased a D100 and use my Tamron 28-300 mm lens. The owners manual says not to get it wet and living in the midewest with all of the snow, sleet, and rain that we get that makes it hard. Is there a product or could I make something to protect it from these conditions short of having to purchase a underwater housing setup? Thanks.
Sincerely,
Duane

Wrap it in plastic the best you can and have it loose enough that you can get your hands underneath. A trash bag might be too big for it, because tamron is known for making a lens that's small in size.
But you can put a hole in the plastic to put the front of the lens thru, and then use velcro or rubber bands to keep it there. If you want to make it big enough so that you can put it over your head, you can.
