Photography Question

Denise Lehman

What camera would you recommend for weddings

I am an amateur who has done photojournalism type wedding receptions, and am now looking to expand into weddings. I understand many professionals are now using 35mm for the actual wedding instead of medium format...I am going to buy a new camera, and would appreciate any input. My main camera of use currently is the Canon EOS 650 w/ a Tamaron 28-200 zoom; this worked well for the 'journalism' type of photography.
Thanks for your help.

There's nothing about a camera that you use for "jounrnalism" type photography that you couldn't use for "wedding"type photography. If you think you have a lens for it, which you should. You've got the 28mm covered for wide shots, and I doubt if anything is going to happpen where you would need more than 200mm, you should be fine. You just need to think about lighting. You have a good flash? You need anything else for posed shots? Is your flash strong enough to bounce off ceilings, walls, if you can?
