If your shutter dial doesn't have a B setting

I am a student photographer and am trying to take night shots, but my shutter dial doesn't have a "B" setting. I am using a Canon EOS Rebel G11. What should I do?

The Rebel GII does have "B" ("bulb"). You have to set the main control dial to M (Manual) to get it. The in the autoexposure modes the maximum shutter speed is 30 seconds. To avoid camera shake, use the remote shutter release (RS-60E3).
