Photography Question

Having Slides Printed

I've been using slide film lately and went to have some of them printed. I found the prints lacking in colour. Is this always the case with slide film? I'm not sure how slides are printed, but I was hoping that the colours would be a bit more vibrant

Most stores use the internegative process, which is taking a picture of your slide with negative film and then printing it. The result is often just what you describe. The Cibachrome process, though more expensive, is far better. If you do a lot of this, buy a film scanner, a good Photoshop-based imaging program and a $150 inkjet printer. You can do a better job yourself, and it'd save you money in the long run.

I have to agree with Doug. I bought me the Minolta Dimage Scan Dual III and it scans my images to perfection. Then I turned around and bought me an Epson Stylus photo825 printer for less then 200.00 and boy am I printing images like crazy. Very well worth the money spent. And a lot less time travling to have someone else do it and not that well.
