I'm new to resolution features!! Help! I shoot U/W video. My fiance has started diving and enjoys still photo. Recently purchased C-5050. I'm learning the camera with her, but I'm missing something in downloading to PC. Images are huge; changed res. in camera, but so many choices!! This is going to take a while to learn. Suggestions??? Super camera...

Open a picture right out of the file you downloaded them to using Photoshop or Elements (or other imaging program). The resolution will show up as 72 pixels-per-inch and the dimensions of the image will be presposterous (30- by 21, in inches?) Be sure Resample is NOT checked and change the resolution to 300. You'll see the dimensions scale back to a normal print size, depending on the setting you used in the camera. If you don't see the print size you'd hoped for, go to 240 ppi as your resolution. That's a minimum for true photo quality. Your dimensions will become larger. It's important to know that the total number of pixels in the image does not change; you didn't throw any away. If the total file size DOES change when you do the above, something's wrong. At this stage, you need to be a pixel packrat; don't throw any away.
