Photography Question

imbalanced exposure

Some of my outdoor photos seem to have a milky looking film over one half of the image. Could this be stray light entering the lense? Any shared images would be helpful in determining if this is in fact what went wrong. Thanks

Possible the effect is caused by stray light hitting the front lens element, which is solved by using a lens hood. That the film only appears on 1/2 the image leads me to suspect instead that you have a light leak in the camera back. Check to make sure the back closes tightly, and that any seals around the edge or around a film window haven't deteriorated, or that the camera body or film back are not cracked.

Thank you Jon for your response; I suspect that it is from light hitting the front lens element, although I did use a lense hood (not a very deep one, just the one built in on the lense itself. If it was a light leak, wouldn't all of the pictures on that particular roll (and others) have that effect? The problem was with 5-6 images in a roll of 24 exposures.

You mentioned that the effect occurred on your outdoor photos. Just a guess that the effects of the leak are only apparent with bright sunshine.
