Photography Question

Jessica J. Lueken

How did the red line appear in the picture?

I shot this picture inside of a salon with no natural light, all florescent lighting. The first problem with this picture is the red shadow line, could this of been cause by a reflection off a red wall? The second is the background color is off and looks grainy. I used a aperture of 5.6 with automatic shutter speed, and a bounce flash. On the second picture I used a #2 diffusion filter. Is it possible that the developer, Walmart had anything to do with these problems?

The line through the mirror looks like an aberration in the mirror, because everything around it looks fine. The grain in the second image is a result of the bounce flash not being strong enough to light things up back there, therefore, the grainy look. Walmart probably had nothing to do with these issues, but I wouldn't recommend taking film to a department store for development. Go to a professional lab. It costs more. You get what you pay for.

Good luck!
